Vocalist and saxman Wilbur Wilde has been a fixture on the Australian music scene since Ol’55 got together in Sydney in 1975.
Band Appearances
Jo Jo Zep and the Falcons occupied another four years along with tours and recording dates with, amongst others, Skyhooks, Cold Chisel, Kevin Borich and Split Enz.
Hey Hey It’s Saturday
He is best known for his work as member of the house band on the popular tv show “Hey Hey It’s Saturday” alongside Red Symons (Skyhooks) from from 1984 to 1999.
Wilbur Wilde And The Troublemakers
As well as holding down plenty of television, radio, public speaking and theatre engagements in the ensuing years, Willy has continued to perform live with all sorts of bands, right around the country, including Wilbur Wilde and The Troublemakers.
TV Appearances
Wilbur has made numerous other TV appearances throughout his career on shows including The Flying Doctors, MDA, The Paul Hogan Show, Blankety Blanks, Sale of the Century, Celebrity Squares, MTV, Getaway, Postcards, Prisoner, Temptation, Spicks and Specks, The Russell Gilbert Show, and commercials for the Australian Pensioners Insurance Agency. From 1992 to 1999, Wilbur toured with The New Rocky Horror Show, contributing to more than 750 performances along the way. His CV also boasts a string of movie credits including Trojan Warrior, Mad Max, The Coolangatta Gold, City of the Damned, Jenny Kissed Me, Dead End Drive-In, and Cool Change.
Radio
Between 2000 and 2004, Wilde presented the Classic Café on Gold 104.3 Melbourne. In December 2005, Wilde joined Vega 91.5, hosting a drive show between 3 – 6pm and departed the station in 2008. He also previously presented radio shows at 3UZ and 3XY. He currently appears on 3MP every Wednesday at 8:30am.
